Following a survey by What Car? - The Daily Mail has published an article highlighting the 'ridiculous' reasons for which thousands of vehicles are being declined an MOT certificate.
Nearly 1,400 MOT failures were down to 'anomalies' with the registration plate - particularly personalised plates - including incorrect fonts, irregular character spacings, and dirty or missing letters and plates.
What Car? says: 'If you have a personalised plate, make sure it adheres to DVLA rules.'
With the average cost of an MOT now at £45, a whopping £63,000 has been wasted by the careless owners whose vehicles failed due to registration plates.
So, don't forget to spend a few minutes checking the basic, common MOT failures and save yourself time and money!
