The votes have been counted and the elite assembly of global motoring journalists have chosen the final three vehicles in contention for the prestigious WCotY title.
In no particular order, the finalists are;
Ford Mustang
Ford have never won at the WCotY awards. Could this be their year?
The all new Mustang is a mighty fine car, managing to retain all the rugged charm of an American muscle car, whilst appealing to the European market. The new Mustang will be available in RHD for the first time ever, which is great new for British petrol heads!
Mercedes C-Class
The Mercedes C-Class has been a firm favourite in the compact executive car market for decades, however the new W205 generation really is something special. Across the range the drive is sublime, especially the C450 4matic - a half fat C63 AMG.
Despite winning in several sub-categories at the awards, Mercedes-Benz have never won the prestigious overall title of World Car of the Year.
VW Passat
Volkswagen will feel at home in the final of WCotY, having won the title a whopping 4 times in the last 6 years. If historic results can be used as an indication of the future, Volkswagen should feel pretty smug...
The latest Passat, the 8th incarnation, is a strong contender. You just have to look at the build quality and the fantastic materials used to see that the VW is a quality motor car. Although, deemed by many as a 'boring' car, the passat has a huge following accorss the globe with many owners simply upgrading to the newest model every few years.
